Call for Applicants - Interim Council Member The San Carlos City Council is accepting applications to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former Mayor Andy Klein. The term of the interim Council Member will be from the date of appointment until the position is refilled by election and the election results are certified. This could be in December 2012 or December 2013.
Completed applications must be received by the City by Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
Tentative date and time for interviews is Tuesday, May 29, 2012 with interviews starting at 5:00 p.m.
Polystyrene Foodware Ban in San Carlos - Effective July 1, 2012 On March 12, 2012, the San Carlos City Council adopted Ordinance 1442 which adopts the County Model Ordinance that bans Polystyrene ("Styrofoam") Foodware in Restaurants. The Ordinance takes effect in San Carlos on July 1, 2012.
The County has sent out letters to San Carlos Restaurants that reminds them of this new ordinance. Enforcement of the Ordinance will occur during the County's routine health inspections of restaurants or upon receipt of complaints.

Fire Season is Approaching - Residents Urged to Clear Brush With meteorological indicators suggesting abnormally hot and dry summer weather patterns, the fire danger this year is very worrisome. Even with the cooler weather, fires have already been reported in open space lands in the San Francisco Bay Area.
As we do each year, the San Carlos Fire Department is urging city residents to clear brush and grasses to a minimum of 30-ft to 100-ft from their homes to create a defensible space.
